Cervical cancer prevention week 20-26th January 2020

Jo's Trust are promoting Cervical cancer awareness week from 20-26th January 2020 and we think this is really key to helping reduce this disease.
It is really important to be screened for cervical cancer and -, you should receive an invite from your GP ever three years but you should also request a screening if you have concerns at another time.
Symptoms of cervical cancer can include but are not limited to:
- Abnormal bleeding: during or after sexual intercourse, or between periods
- Post menopausal bleeding: if you are not on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or have stopped it for six weeks or more
- Unusual vaginal discharge
- Discomfort or pain during sexual intercourse
- Lower back pain.
We want to ensure all women and people with a cervix know how cervical cancer can be prevented. This means:
- Attending cervical screening when invited
- Knowing the symptoms of cervical cancer and seeking medical advice if experiencing any
- Taking up the HPV vaccination if aged 11-18
- Knowing where to find support and further information
